Study Groups and Tours

Clarence Musgrave in Jerusalem is suggesting a Study Tour (details below).  Contact him directly if you are interested.
E-mail  stachjer@netvision.net.il

15 May 2004

These are outline proposals. Need to be checked out with the providers or services etc!

However, if anyone is interested, and could let me know, [E-mail stachjer@netvision.net.il] then I will proceed with plans.
Expressing an interest is not a commitment – though I would hope so!

How about getting your congregation, your Presbytery, your work, your anything, to sponsor you, and you could then go back and give a few talks?

September : Meet the People
The idea of this group would be to meet as wide a range of people from all parts of the community here, and to travel to different places on the West Bank to see what is happening in different villages etc.
Friday 17th September – Depart from UK (or from anywhere else!)
Saturday 18th September – Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport and transfer to Jerusalem.
Sunday 19th September – Friday 23rd September : Programme of meeting people. May also include a visit to Nazareth and a night in Tiberias.
Saturday 24th September – leave on early morning flight – possibly afternoon flight
Sunday 25th September - Yom Kippur – there is no travel at all on this day in Israel.
Monday 27th September – leave for UK
People can spend the weekend in Jerusalem if it fits into their timetable. Otherwise, they would have to leave before Yom Kippur.
Should people wish to add a bit more to the beginning or end of the “tour” this would be possible.
I have made provisional bookings for 10 people for this tour. A maximum, I think, would be 15.

October : Meet the Desert.
Dates are, I think, suitable for Aberdeen and Edinburgh Schools October Holiday.
Friday 15th October – Depart from UK (or from anywhere else!)
Saturday 16th October – Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport and spend night in Jerusalem at St Andrew’s
Sunday 17th October – Morning service at St Andrew’s. Afternoon to a Bedouin Camp near Arad, where spend the night.
Monday 18th October – To Sinai, via Taba Border crossing. Night in desert
Tuesday 19th October – To St Catherine’s Monastery – spend night there.
Wednesday 20th October – Sunrise on Mount Sinai – back to desert
Thursday 21st October – Desert Walk – night in desert
Friday 22nd October – Coast resort hotel.
Saturday 23rd October – Back to Jerusalem – night at St Andrew’s
Sunday 24th October – Morning worship at St Andrew’s. Afternoon flight to UK – Lufthansa would get you back to Edinburgh that evening.

Granted that I do not have costings at present. Granted that arrival and departure could be altered.
Anybody interested? I have made provisional reservations for 10 people at St Andrew’s. Ideally I would like 15.
