ABERDEEN  PRESBYTERIAL COUNCIL

MILLENNIUM BANNER PROJECT

Aberdeen Council's Banner-making group took part in a national project to mark the millennium, when each Council was asked to produce a banner depicting a book of the Bible. The book allotted to Aberdeen was the gospel of St Mark.

The banner depicts the road of life, the life of Jesus' ministry, and shows different events in it, beginning with the calling of the disciples, moving on to other events - the feeding of the five thousand, Jesus welcoming the children, the raising of Jairus' daughter and the healing of the woman who touched the hem of his garment - and culminating in the Last Supper and the empty cross symbolising the Resurrection.

A book of the Banners, with photos of each of the sixty-six banners and the story of their travels round the country, is available from Guild Office. To see the St Mark banner, come to a Council meeting or contact the Council secretary
